The John Muir Award gives young people the opportunity to get outdoors, explore wild places and develop a greater understanding of the environment around them.

Through the award, young people can discover local wildlife and natural spaces, learn about the importance of protecting the environment and share what they have learned with others. They also have the opportunity to learn about John Muir and his achievements.

The award is built around four key challenges:

🌲 Discover – Explore and experience wild places
🔎 Explore – Learn more about the environment and develop awareness
🌱 Conserve – Take positive action to care for the environment
🗣️ Share – Share experiences and encourage others to understand and appreciate nature

The award is available at three levels — Discover, Explore and Conserve — allowing young people to build their experience and commitment as they progress.
